| When selecting mates, we compare the following traits of our shorty Jack Russell Terriers: Temperament Overall Conformation Amount of Bone Height and Coat type Color Temperament is listed first, because I feel it is the most important trait. Each of our dogs spends a great deal of time with our family, indoors and outside. I feel it necessary to only breed dogs with proven friendly dispositions, that are wonderful companions for all ages. A great consideration is the health of the prospective parents, that is not to be overlooked. The health of both parents plays a vital role in the health of our puppies. |

| Shorty Jacks DO require a long-term commitment to their health and exercise. Daily walks and activities combined with consistent training will benefit your relationship with your jack russell for their entire lifetime. Their unique character and intelligence will undoubtedly entertain you and can bring you great joy! They are not a non-shedding breed. It is true that rough and broken coats shed less than smooth coats. But, all coat types of a jack russell do shed. They do require your attention and interaction. They love being with and near their family, running errands, going to the park or school for baseball/soccer/football practice, frequenting dog-friendly businesses, or simply riding to town for a snack, your jack russell will want to be with you for it all. They enjoy having a job, some of ours are regulars on the couch, while others can be found on rodent patrol, then, there are those who are right by our side step for step and within arms length no matter the time of day or night. Your lifestyle and schedule needs to be considered when you are looking to welcome a new family member. Is a Jack Russell Terrier the right breed for you?
